PERFORMING
The Forge of Friendship
2025
Charles Williams
A fun time shooting scenes for a documentary about the friendship between CS Lewis and JRR Tolkein. I played Charles Williams - 'The Third Inkling'
Jekyll & Hyde
2009 & 2014
Dr. Henry Jekyll
Just one (two?!) of the great roles. Having coveted it for 15 years since I heard the concept album, I was honoured to play it for the regional premiere under the direction of Su Appleton and musical direction of Chris Cheetham. We had such a ball we did it again five years later!
Anyone Who Loves
2011
A sweet little dinner performance devised by Hannah Veale and myself with Joanna Rubery on the piano.
Such fun to put some favourite love songs into a new context and create a charming short story.
Jesus Christ Superstar
2010
Jesus of Nazareth
One of the greatest challenges and a gift to play in such a wonderful production by Dave Crewe and under the baton of Julie Todd.
Hanging on the cross and looking out into the audience on the line 'Father, into your hands I commit my spirit' was a powerful spiritual moment.
Chess
2008
Anatoly Sergievsky
I would play this role every night of my life if I could. An incredible score brought vividly to life by Ed Blagrove (Director) and Edward Longhurst (MD) with a wonderful performance by Catherine Blagrove as Florence.
The thrill of the curtain coming down as 'Anthem' reached its soaring climax was one of the most amazing feelings of my life.
Jack

Sir Charles Warren
I wasn't meant to be in this! But it was fun to play a bass part, and would often be rewriting lines as we rehearsed scenes, so I never flubbed once!

Jesus
A very happy trio of productions by Curtain Call under the direction of Robin Martin-Oliver who became a dear friend. Wonderful shows and a gift to lead very talented companies. Gillian Plummer was sensational as Hanna in Merry Widow, and Faye Turner and Dan Jupp were fantastic playmates in a 1950s-set Oliver!
