I was on holiday in Hungary when an acquaintance from 'West End Has Faith' reached out and asked if I might be interested in collaborating.

I was! I knew Lucas's work from seeing rehearsals of a previous show he had composed prior to it going to Edinburgh and so knew he was a talent.

I had nothing much to hand to suggest ideas, and so I downloaded Saint-Exupery's 'Vol de Nuit' on my Kindle (having read and enjoyed it previously) and discovered within pages that it just 'sang'.

I have always loved St-Ex's work - pilot, philosopher, poet. The idea of bringing this world to life was a thrilling one.

Most of our work on the show happened during the Covid era - Lucas in Sheffield, myself in Oxfordshire - but we struck up a really happy way of working.

We were truly blessed to have an extraordinary cast to deliver our first public outing for the show (and only Covid denied us a couple of other headline acts) - it was great to put the show in front of an audience and we learnt a huge amount about its strengths and weaknesses.

After much reworking we had another read-through in December 2024, ready for work to begin on orchestration to set us up for a recording of highlights from the show hopefully in 2026.
